Classic Sitcom Moments ... George's IQ Test

"You're a fascinating man, George Costanza." - Classic stuff here from Seinfeld (Season 3, Ep 7, "The Cafe"). George tells Jerry he's been lying about his IQ for years, and now his girlfriend is making him take the test. So he cheats and has Elaine take it for him... RANDOM THOUGHTS ... The scene cracks me up! Watching George try to keep this lie going is hilarious. I like how he tries to play it off like she's the one asking stupid questions. "Where do you think I got the coffee? At the grocery store." And my favorite, "Why would I go out the door? The window's right here."

51 Suggestions for Rock Bands Looking for Album Titles

I can't stand it when rock bands or hard rock bands release a new album with no album name. It's "untitled," they say. Just make something up! And if you can't make something up, just use one of these. They're all perfectly good titles for a rock album, because no one really cares what you call it, as long as you call it something! The Chicken Farm Adventure Whales & Snails Beet Box O'Brien and Murphy Slander the Heard Ironspire Odyssey No Way Station Implosion Reality Wicked Far Neckbreaker Glad I'm Not Here Rover Comes Over No Shit, Sherlock Rain on Your Dumb Parade Frankie Goes to Hell Jart Through the Heart Start at the End Listen, Lenny Double Dare You Soaring Below It Tip: Just use something about outer space.  Perfect for hard rock or "thinking man's" bands. Even if it just  sounds  like it's about space, it'll work... Crystal Clear Darkness 44 Days Without the Sun Milky Way Rock Io Omega L

Classic Stand-Up Comedy ... Brian Regan on Hospitals

"So I'm killing time writhing..." - We can't get enough Brian Regan stand-up. Here's some great stuff about going to the emergency room. I like the line about calling an ambulance for yourself, "Can you come get me? Just come on in, I'll be lying on the floor." And the bit about the broken-femur-guy at the end is gold. It's pretty much non-stop gut-busting material. Enjoy! More Brian Regan in The RATASS Gazette ... Classic Stand-Up Comedy ... Brian Regan Classic Stand-Up Comedy ... Brian Regan, Part Deux

Green Day Video Du Jour ... Stay the Night

Green Day - "Stay the Night" -  Uno! (2012) RANDOM THOUGHTS... Our favorite rock band keeps cranking out awesome tunes. "Stay the Night" is my favorite track off the recently released  Uno! It reminds me of Kerplunk -era Green Day; simple and melodic, and the lyrics are timeless. It's an instant classic, and, in my opinion, ranks right up there with the best songs they've ever recorded. ... The video is good as well. I like these clips where it looks like the band is rehearsing in an empty room, they did it with the " Nuclear Family " video, too. It reminds me that this is what they are at the root of it all: Just some buddies hanging out and writing songs. Keep on rockin', guys!

Dazzling Dunks - Vince Carter's Top 10 Slams

Haven't had your morning cup of java? Well, this collection of scintillating Vince Carter jams will wake you up like a strong up of coffee. Vinsanity! RANDOM THOUGHTS... Sometimes these Top 10 dunk lists have a few jams that are just filler... Like seven great dunks and three OK dunks. But not here. Oh, no. There is no need for filler when you're talking about amazing Vince Carter rim-rockers. I could probably rave for an extended paragraph or three on each one of these slams, but I'll save everyone that mess and just mention my favorites: The 360 (#4), the big one-handed windmill (#8), and the two-hand double-pump reverse jam (#2)... with authority!

Awesome Team Logos ... Wheeling Nailers (ECHL)

RANDOM THOUGHTS... How's this for a bad ass hockey team logo? It belongs to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL . Wheeling is in West Virginia and the team is a minor-league affiliate of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins. The ECHL is chock full of awesome team logos, and this is among the best. ... Let's cut to the chase, this logo is fucking tough. If I'm a hockey player, and I'm a tough guy, this is what I want on my jersey. You've got the sharp edges on the hockey mask in the middle of the logo, which gives it that sinister Jason-from-the-Friday-the-13th-movies quality. And then you've got the skull and crossbones motif going on, too. Except instead of bones, you've got nails , which fits perfectly with the hard-working community this hockey team represents. The black-and-gold color combo matches the Penguins and it looks great. ... If you put this logo on a shirt, I'd buy 10 shirts. If a guy wearing one of those shirts told me I had to either figh

Random Baseball Cards ... Tony Gwynn 1987 Topps #530

Tony Gwynn 1987 Topps #530 RANDOM THOUGHTS... It's fitting that Tony Gwynn is shown here in the batter's box because he was definitely focused on the ball that year. He'd post a major league-leading .370 batting average in 1987, which was the highest number he'd posted in his career to that point. He also stole 56 bases that season! I was surprised to learn that Gwynn stole 319 bases over his 20 year career. ... Gwynn had a great offensive year in '87, adding 13 triples that contributed to an impressive .370/.447/.511 stat line. He also led the league with 218 hits, and those 56 SB were good for 2nd in the NL. His gaudy .958 OPS ranked ahead of NL sluggers such as Mike Schmidt (35 HR's in 1987) and Andre Dawson (a league-leading 49 bombs). Now that's raking it! ... Gwynn hit over .350 in a season a whopping 7 times! I already knew he was great, but now I'm starting to think he was  really  great. Tony Gwynn is the man.

Great 80's Videos ... Danger Danger - Naughty Naughty

Taking a look at the classic music video for "Naughty Naughty" by Danger Danger. The song originally appeared as the first track on their self-titled debut album in 1989. Enjoy.   RANDOM THOUGHTS... First off, I love this song. I think it rocks, and you could put it up there with any other arena rock songs of the era. Bon Jovi, Shmon Shmovi... this song is as good as most of Shmon Shmovi's stuff. It's got a great guitar riff, a killer guitar solo, a kick-ass bass line breakdown and all that good shit that I like. The guitar really stands out to me, there's a ton of great guitar fills, whammy bar maneuvers, and whatnot. So yeah, this song has got the goods. And the video is fantastic as well, here are some highlights...   TWIRLIN' - Ok, we're about 55 seconds into the song and the drummer has somehow managed to cram 4 drum stick twirls into the video already. It's quite a torrid pace indeed, but still well short of the all-time mark set by

Music Video Du Jour ... Donnie Iris - Ah, Leah

This is, bar none, the finest performance of this great rock song you'll find on the web. It's Donnie Iris performing his 1981 hit, "Ah, Leah", and it's a must-watch. Well, what are you waiting for?! Check it out!  Donnie Iris - Ah, Leah RANDOM THOUGHTS ... According to the screen shot at the end of this video, this was aired on WQED (Pittsburgh) in 2002. The band he's playing with are the house band from that local TV station, and let me tell you, these guys (and gal) kick some serious ass in this one! I mean, they knock it out of the park. Every single member of that band are spot-on, technically precise, and provide a note-perfect rendition of this song. The grinding distortion of the guitars and Donnie Iris' amazing vocal performance just sound way better than the original album version . Iris' pipes are definitely still intact, he really nails it here, it's awesome to watch. That must have been an amazing feeling to be there in the TV

Classic Stand-Up Comedy ... Jerry Seinfeld - Supermarkets

"You ever not buy anything in the supermarket and try to get out of there? It's impossible." - Here is some classic stand-up from the great Jerry Seinfeld. He riffs on supermarkets for a good five minutes, including some funny bits about the produce section, seedless watermelons, and milk. On fruit: "See the way that's fading left? That one's not ready." Cracks me up every time! Got to loooove the Sein.

Classic Sitcom Moments ... The Office - The Stress Relief

Here's a collection of ha-larious scenes from an episode of The Office (Season 5, Ep 13) called "The Stress Relief". "You were in the parking lot earlier, that's how I know you." - Pure gold right here. The office attempts to learn CPR, but fails badly. In fact, the lesson results in Andy singing the Bee Gees while Kelly dances. I like how the rest of the employees just look on with amusement/apathy. The scene is full of funny bits. Favorite line... Dwight: "Ok, he's dead. Anyone know what we do next?" Classic! The Roast of Michael Scott - Probably one of the best all-time Office scenes. Michael set up a Comedy Central-style Roast so employees could poke fun at him, and it's nothing short of gut-busting. I think I like Dwight's roast the best. Enjoy! "Boom, Roasted!" - Here's the end of episode. Michael got his feelings hurt at his own roast, but now he's got some comebacks of his own. "Osc

Green Day Video Du Jour ... Walking Contradiction & Going To Pasalacqua

Green Day "Walking Contradiction" and "Going to Pasalacqua"  Live on Saturday Night Special in 1996 RANDOM THOUGHTS... This is probably my favorite Green Day late-night TV performance of all time. It originally aired in 1996 on a short-lived Fox TV show called Saturday Night Special , produced by Roseanne Barr.  Special filled in for MAD TV for six weeks opposite NBC's Saturday Night Live , and Green Day appeared in the sixth and final episode.  It's pretty apparent that the people behind the scenes at the network wanted the band to play "Walking Contradiction," which was their single at the time (from the album Insomniac which was released the previous year).  It's also pretty apparent that Green Day wanted to play something else.  Let's be honest, "Walking Contradiction" is a catchy song with a fun music video , but it's a mid-tempo rocker and probably not the most exciting tune in their catalog to play.  So Green

Great Moments In Wrestling ... The NWO Rises to Power

The Rise of the NWO in WCW - Here's an awesome clip featuring the formation and rise of the New World Order in the WCW.  The faction formed in 1996 and it was a huge move for the WCW in the Monday Night Wars , with Nitro subsequently besting Raw in the ratings for quite a while.  It's got fantastic interviews with all the major players including Eric Bischoff, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and the Hulkster, among others.  It's interesting to hear them reflect on that time period, when wrestling was really surging on TV.  I'll admit, I was a WWF guy during this time, but when you team up Hall, Nash, and Hogan, and throw in some kick-ass black-and-white t-shirts... well, you really got something going there.  Check it out!

Great Moments In Wrestling ... Kane's Debut

" That's gotta be KANE! " - Watch this clip and relive the debut of Kane! This was the first time we got a glimpse of the Undertaker's long-lost undead brother, and it was pretty awesome. He showed up at WWF's Badd Blood in 1997, ripped the door off a steel cage, and Tombstoned the Undertaker's big dead ass back to Hell, helping the Heartbreak Kid to a victory along the way. What a nice guy! Having the great Vince McMahon calling the match really helps sell it, too, good stuff. Hellfire and brimstone! It's KANE!!!

Great Moments In Wrestling ... DX Invades WCW

DX Invades WCW in 1998 - Where were you when D-Generation X drove a tank down to WCW's Monday Nitro and talked shit to Eric Bischoff and the dubya-see-dubya? Well, I was there. Oh, maybe not there physically, but I was there , man . This is clearly one of the highlights of the Monday Night Wars between Raw and Nitro , and my buddies and I were huge DX fans, so this was right up our alley. Screw Nitro , DX rules! Suck it!! The interviews with all the people involved here are fantastic, real good stuff. Enjoy!

Random Baseball Cards ... Deion Sanders 1990 Topps #61

Deion Sanders 1990 Topps #61 RANDOM THOUGHTS ... An awesome card featuring Deion Sanders as an up-and-coming phenom. Prime Time before his prime. Check out the badass photo! A young man on his way to conquering the sports world. It's a really cool picture that captures Neon Deion at a very exciting time in his career. ... He was entering his second MLB season in 1990, and he appeared in just 57 games for the Yankees that year, but then again, he did play 16 games with the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL that fall as a kick returner/ punt returner/ shutdown corner. So we'll cut him some slack. ... The 1990 Topps set, as any baseball card collector will tell you, was the first set to feature colored borders, and it's one of my favorite Topps card designs ever. There were many border colors, varying by team or whatnot. The other design features -- like the player photo showing in front of the team name, and a parallelogram (a parallelogram!) containing the player

Moss To The 49ers: Totally Awesome

RANDY MOSS SIGNS WITH THE 49ERS - The San Francisco 49ers made a very wise move and signed future Hall Of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss this past week. Anyone that thinks that Moss is washed up or not worth the "risk" is crazy, and here's why... Did the Niners upgrade at the position? Clearly. Randy Moss' worst year is better than Josh Morgan's best year. That's not just big talk, either. Well, actually it is. Morgan's best year is, in fact, better than Moss' worst year, but it's pretty damn close! Moss' "worst" season (in terms of sheer statistics) was 2006, his final year in Oakland. He posted 42 receptions, 553 yards, and 3 TD in 13 games. Josh Morgan's best season was 2010, when he posted 44, 698, and 2. So Morgan's stats are slightly better, but than again, if you extrapolate Moss' 13 games out to a full 16, Moss's numbers are 52, 680, and 4. The bottom line is, even if you get only 75% of the Moss of old, h

The "My Sharona" Guitar Solo

THE "MY SHARONA" GUITAR SOLO - Am I crazy, or is the big guitar solo on "My Sharona" one of the best solos ever recorded? There was a time in my life (not long ago, actually) where I'd watch this video 20 times a day. It's the best live performance of this song I've seen, check it out! The Knack - My Sharona RANDOM THOUGHTS... Of course, the main guitar riff in this song is classic. The octave-jumping bass riff heard in the intro is also doubled by the guitar, and it was written by guitarist Berton Averre. I also think the first guitar break (you could probably call it a solo, Mr. Technically) at the 1:17 mark is really good. Today, however, I want to focus mainly on the full-blown celebration of life that is the big guitar solo... THE GUITAR SOLO (2:35 to 4:06) ... ... I'm almost appalled that this song is not mentioned in Guitar World's Top 100 Guitar Solos list. I mean, what the hell?! I'm sorry, but the "My Sha

Classic Stand-Up Comedy ... Brian Regan, Part Deux

"I read good." - I could watch Brian Regan stand-up bits all day... and sometimes I do. Here's some hilarious stuff about reading that makes me laugh my ass off. Especially the part, "You never see a point / counterpoint show about reading." Gold!  For more Classic Stand-Up Comedy from Brian Regan, click here .

Music Video Du Jour ... Spin Doctors - Little Miss Can't Be Wrong - Live in 1992

Check out this awesome clip of the Spin Doctors performing "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" on The Late Show with David Letterman in 1992. This was the first single off their 5x Platinum (U.S.) selling Pocket Full of Kryptonite (everyone I know owned a copy) which was released in 1991... Two, three, four!  Spin Doctors - Little Miss Can't Be Wrong - Live in 1992 RANDOM THOUGHTS... Lead guitarist Eric Schenkman plays hot licks throughout the entire tune and makes it look pretty effortless. He's rockin' a killer tone during the verses. Everybody, let's hear it for the neck pickup! (A guitar tech way in the back who's barely paying attention starts clapping...) ...  Shout out to Letterman's bandleader Paul Shaffer on the keys, who provides spot-on back-up vocals during the performance in addition to playing the hell out of that there keyboard and genuinely having a blast. Say what you want about ol' Paulie, but dammit, that guy has fun ou

Private Number - Act I, Scene A

"Private Number" - Act I, Scene A Private Ron Number sits in his cramped, messy office down at the police department, stale smoke hanging in the room like a cloud. The department was too damn cheap too fix his damn ceiling fan, Number figured, as he shook his head in annoyance. The phone rang and Private Number answered it in his typical gruff, could-probably-use-a-lozenge voice...  "Ron Number." "Oh, sorry. Good bye." (* Click *) The dial tone resumed. The caller on the other end had hung up. " Goddammit !" The detective slammed down the phone. " Sixth time this morning!" Private Number lit up another cigarette. It was the third cigarette of the fourth pack of smokes he'd had that day, and it wasn't even lunchtime yet. He'd been up for 94 straight hours trying to track down the Dirt Bag and he was fucking tired. He didn't have time for this shit. "And why the hell do they always apologize before

Classic Sitcom Moments ... The Office - Goodbye, Toby

"Goodbye, Toby" - Here's a nice collection of scenes from The Office Season 4 finale where Michael sings "Goodbye, Toby" (set to the tune of " Goodbye, Stranger " by Supertramp). Michael really gets into it, and it cracks me up how apathetic the crowd is... except of course, for Dwight, who rocks it out. This is right after Michael reiterates to the crowd that he's the song (parody) writer who penned "Beers in Heaven" and "Total Eclipse of the Fart". Classic! "I hate so much about the things that you choose to be." - And, just for good measure, here's a great video compilation of a bunch of funny Michael vs. Toby moments from over the years. Michael's complete and utter disdain for all things Toby is comedy gold. I especially enjoy when Michael shoves Toby's lunch tray off the table and onto the floor (1:54), even though Toby is actually being really nice to him. Such a jerk move, and yet, so funny!

Classic Stand-Up Comedy ... Rodney Dangerfield

"I tell ya, I got the only car, dogs chase it and catch it." - Here's some dynamite stand-up from the one and only Rodney Dangerfield. I'm not sure of the exact year, but I'd guess 1970's. Tons of great eye-bugging and "I tell ya's" and "my wife" rants, I love it! Three minutes of killer material. Enjoy!

Great 80's Videos ... Cinderella - Shake Me

Cinderella - Shake Me - 1986 - Here's an excellent song and video from Cinderella. "Shake Me" was the first single off their multi-platinum selling debut album, Night Songs , and it's probably my favorite Cinderella song. Shake it! RANDOM THOUGHTS ... This song has it all: Great guitar riffs, awesome cowbell, and kick-ass vocals. A " foot-stomping rocker " if you will. Cinderella is one of my favorite bands from that era, I saw them live (with Poison, Dokken, and Slaughter on the Power To The People Tour in 2000) and they put on a great  show, doing all of the cool guitar tricks they display here in this video. And of course, Tom Keifer is a great singer, one of my favorite rock and roll voices. It captures the energy, so showing them playing the song live in the video works pretty good here, I think. ... Bands, and people in general, don't talk about "shaking" like they used to. Back in the day, there were songs about "shaking&q

Dazzling Dunks ... The Best of Clyde Drexler

Finally, here is Part 3 (of 3) of our Dazzling Dunks extravaganza, featuring Clyde "The Glide" Drexler!  Clyde "The Glide" Drexler - We're gonna wrap things up with some silky smooth moves from Clyde "The Glide." There was a perception back in the day (at least with the people I knew) that Clyde didn't dunk with power, since he didn't do a lot of rim-hangin', like Kemp or 'Nique. This video will change that perception. He dunks with plenty of power. I'm not pulling your chain when I say that some of these dunks are straight outta sight. These dunks are smooth, man. Most of these dunks are from his days with the Blazers, but there is one in there from his Houston days, and I'm not talking Phi Slamma Jamma! Check it out! Random Thoughts on the Drexler video... They get it rolling right out of the gate here at #10, a one-hand alley-oop slam, one of the best I've seen! He calls for the oop on the break and fini

Dazzling Dunks ... The Best of Dominique Wilkins

Here is Part 2 (of 3) of our Dazzling Dunks extravaganza, starring Dominique Wilkins. Dominique Wilkins - Ah yes, the "Human Highlight Reel!" I am on record as saying Dominique Wilkins is my #1 favorite dunker of all time. That's quite a statement, because I love dunks and there's a lot of great dunkers. But I dig Dominique's style, with the windmill slams, the double-pump reverse jams, and things of that ilk. I like a lot of limb movement in a dunker. Limb flailing, even. Dominique also dunked with power and hung on the rim a lot, which I also dig. So that's one dig, and then another dig. What's that give me? Um... I don't know, actually. A small hole, I guess? Look, they're awesome dunks, so just watch the video...  Random Thoughts on the Dominique video...  Pretty much everything I like about Dominique as a dunker is in this video. We've got the "reverse stuff" at #8 (I just really like it when people call a dunk a "s

Dazzling Dunks ... The Best of Shawn Kemp

Welcome to Part 1 (of 3) of our Dazzling Dunks extravaganza! This one focuses on Shawn Kemp. If you haven't had your daily dose of dunks yet, go ahead and have a few. Even if you think you've had your fill, just have a couple more. Go on. You know you want to...   Shawn Kemp - The "Rain Man" is one of my favorite dunkers of all time. I actually saw Shawn Kemp play against the Bucks at the Bradley Center back in the day. I don't remember what exactly what year, but it was during the Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson era in Milwaukee. Kemp was an established dunker at the time, though, and when he stole a pass at half-court during the game, the crowd was expecting something phenomenal. He had a fast-break with no defenders in front of him, and everyone was suddenly on their feet. He did a fairly simple two-hand reverse jam, and the crowd was actually a little disappointed, but my point is this: Those few seconds of anticipation as he dribbled to the hoop were

Classic Sitcom Moments ... Kramer and Newman in Court

"Must be a banker." - Hilarious scenes from an episode of Seinfeld where Kramer and Newman make up a lie in an attempt to get Newman out of a speeding ticket. (Season 4, Ep 4, "The Ticket").  Whenever you get those two together it's pure comedy gold.  I really like the bit where they're brain-storming ideas before their appearance in the court room.  Kramer suggests he was suicidal because he never had an air-conditioner. Great stuff!

Green Day Video Du Jour ... Christie Road

Green Day - Christie Road - Live in 2005 - This song originally appeared on Kerplunk in 1992.  Kerplunk was drummer Tre Cool's first recorded music with Green Day, and is arguably a top-3 Green Day album.  Here's a great performance of "Christie Road" live on Fuse Comp'd in 2005 .  Rock! RANDOM THOUGHTS ... This song contains a full metric shit ton of great Tre Cool drum fills.  I actually met Tre Cool after a show at The Rave one time, it was legendary.  My brother and some friends were talking to this shorter guy wearing a leather jacket.  I went over to join them and "shorter guy wearing a leather jacket" is none other than -- yep, you guessed it -- Tre Cool.  His hand was all bandaged up, he said it was from smashing his drum kit at the end of the show, and that's the most rock and roll thing that has ever been said to me.  He actually commented directly to me about the T-shirt I was wearing, which had a print of an original Green Day-t

Ric Flair Is The Man

"I'm the champ!" - Check out this unbelievably awesome Ric Flair promo from 1988.  It's Flair at his gloriously confident best.  I'm not sure he could say all this stuff in today's overly PC culture, but back then you could say pretty much whatever you wanted.  Plus, he name-drops everyone from Dale Murphy to Lex Luger to Ted Turner and everyone in between.  I can't watch it enough and I laugh hysterically every time I see it.  Enjoy!  The Ric Flair Flop - And, of course, we can't discuss Ric Flair without talking about the Ric Flair Flop!  It's a highlight of almost every classic match he's been a part of, and here's a great video compilation of a bunch of them.  This video is probably about two minutes too long, but you get the gist of it.  It's like they teach you in elementary school, "It's better to have too many Ric Flair Flops than not enough."  Words to live by, kids!

Great 80's Videos ... Scandal - Goodbye To You

Scandal - Goodbye To You - 1982 - I almost called this one a guilty pleasure, but the truth is I don't feel guilty at all about liking it.  In fact, this is one of my all-time favorite 80's songs!  The beauty of this video is in it's simplicity: Five people, one room, and an unbelievably catchy song.  You can't mess that up! Check it out! Scandal - Goodbye to You RANDOM THOUGHTS... If you're not tapping your foot or singing along by the end of this song you're dead inside, and possibly dead outside .  Tip: To find out if you're dead outside , call 911.  When the paramedics kick down your front door in a panic and try to slap an oxygen mask on you, simply ask one of them, "Am I dead outside?"  If you can feel the unbearable pain emanating from your swollen cheekbones after they punch you in the face and leave, I'm happy to say you're still alive outside.  However, you still may be dead inside .  An easy way to test if you're

Brady vs. Eli

Well, Super Bowl Sunday is finally here , and it seems like everyone is rooting against Tom Brady.  Why? Good question.  Brady seems to be a humble guy who is beloved by his teammates.  But from the people I've talked to, people really seem to dislike the fact that he's good-looking, dates good-looking women, and his team wins every year (even though that also sounds a lot like Joe Montana, and people seem to love him ).  Well, I'm here to defend Tom Brady because I like watching greatness and because I know he'd do the same for me. I mean, really.  Would you rather see Eli Manning and the Giants win?  Seriously?  Well, if you're still not convinced after I threw a "really" and a "seriously" at you, here are some reasons why you should be rooting for Tom Brady to win Super Bowl XLVI... Underdoggedness... Tom Brady was an unheralded 6th-round draft pick in 2000, only got a chance to play because Drew Bledsoe was injured, plays every seas

A Jaded Old Baseball Scout's Take On ... Baseball's Hot Stove

He's old, he's jaded, he's a baseball scout.  He thinks today's players aren't shit compared to Home Run Baker and Three-Finger Brown.  He spews out so many old baseball names you're not sure if they're real or made up.  He mentions obscure nicknames as if they're common knowledge.  And more often than not, he'll start spinning a yarn about some guy he (supposedly) once saw rather than answer your original question.     Since the 2011 season ended, baseball's Hot Stove has been steaming.  The Texas Rangers signed Japanese pitching sensation Yu Darvish , National League MVP Ryan Braun reportedly tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs, and sluggers Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder changed teams. So what does our Jaded Old Baseball Scout think about all this?  Let's find out... " Me and Smitty once scouted a kid named Winky "The Mongoose" Munson that could throw 11 pitches. He's what you call Am

Classic Sitcom Moments ... Kramer and Newman in the Record Store

"What the hell do I care about Al Jolson?" - Hilarious scene from Seinfeld (Season 4, Ep 18, "The Old Man") where Kramer and Newman try to sell some of Jerry's old records. When told they're practically worthless, they don't like it. It cracks me up how Kramer instigates the whole calamity, saying what's on his mind but not actually saying it to the record store owner's face. He just says it to Newman, who then repeats it to the store owner. It just keeps escalating ("I find you extremely ugly") until all hell breaks loose. "A real brouhaha," as Kramer later describes it. Pure gold! (You'll have to click the link to YouTube, as embedding is disabled, but it's worth the click!)
