Grantland Goodies: Great Stuff From Klosterman, Simmons, and More!

Obviously, Grantland doesn't need The RATASS Gazette to promote it's fine writers and content, but I like to pass along the links in case anybody missed them.  Grantland churns out quality stuff all the time.  Here are a handful of my personal favorites that I've read on the site in the past few weeks.  Enjoy!  KLOSTERMAN'S BEST - Simply put, this is the best article I've read in a while.  Chuck Klosterman, who always has a funny and interesting take, examines the idea of nostalgia and what it means to people.  I'd recommend it to any one.  More recently, he's posted his Top 50 college basketball players of all time , which made me chuckle and guffaw on multiple occasions while reading it.  And I tell everyone I know to read this piece on Edgar Winter's Frankenstein , it's fantastic.  Klosterman rocks. SIMMONS LETS LOOSE - The NBA lockout still has not been resolved (as of this posting), and if you want to know what the players and ow...

More Love For Grantland

As I've mentioned before , I love Grantland !  The Bill Simmons-led website continues to churn out quality content.  If you haven't visited the site lately, here is a good place to start browsing what they have to offer: It's a week-in-review post that highlights some of the best pieces they've run in the last seven days.  Along with those articles that are featured, I've listed some more of my personal favorites that you might also enjoy... CATCHING UP WITH THE WWE:   I used to be a huge WWF fan (DX, in particular) and it seems Vince McMahon and his company are making a comeback.  Grantland has a writer on the staff named David Shoemaker, a.k.a. The Masked Man, who does a nice job of explaining what they've been up to lately with the CM Punk angle .  Great stuff! Also, Bill Simmons just came out with a gloriously entertaining piece on his top WWE ring entrances and theme music of all time.  It's a must-read for any wrestling fan, past or present...

Love For Grantland

I know I'm not the first one to say it, but I can't stop reading the new Bill Simmons website, Grantland ! Full disclosure: I'm a huge Simmons fan, listen to almost all of his podcasts (not the ones that are strictly reality TV), have long read his columns on ESPN.com, and constantly pester my friends with their thoughts on recent Simmons posts and rants. KLOSTERMAN ROCKS. If you haven't already, check out anything by Chuck Klosterman.  He wrote a great piece about watching sports on your DVR, and how it's not as entertaining as watching it live. As he points out, pretty much everything else is better when you watch it later on your DVR, so why not sports? Really good stuff! I admit that I stumbled upon Klosterman from his appearances on the BS Report podcast, although I know he has written books and I plan to read them soon. I look forward to more BS Report appearances from Klosterman, as he's always funny and thought-provoking. THE PODCAST ROCKS.   T...
